Behind The Raging Bull: What's The Meaning Of The Lamborghini Logo

3 min read

The iconic Lamborghini logo is one of the world's most recognizable car logos and just like most car makers, its logo meaning tells an interesting story. Lamborghini was founded in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, a man once known known for his talent and brain for fixing all sorts of problems related to automobiles using only the available parts and tools.

The company today manufactures some of the world's most exciting and most luxurious sports cars, known for their captivating design, super speed, luxurious feel and advanced technologies. Ferruccio's main goal was to produce cars that can compete with Ferrari's, the finest Italian car maker in that time. Needless to say, it didn't take him long to come up with a car that left the car enthusiasts in an awe.

Ferruccio was a wealthy man and he owned a factory for manufacturing tractors. His company and his tractors played an important role in the early development of the farming industry, but in the beginning of the 1960s, he revealed his desire to design a sports car that will match the success of the iconic Ferrari cars. In 1963, Ferruccio presented the first model to ever wear the raging bull Lamborghini logo and it was the legendary Lamborghini 350 GTV. Not only he surprised the car world, but his car offered a lot of advantages over the Ferrari models and so the competition started. But why did he use a raging bull as his logo and what is its meaning?

While Lamborghini enjoyed a massive initial success, many fans were having a hard time finding a meaning of the symbol of their already favorite car brand. Some of them who knew Ferruccio's passion of fighting bulls guessed that that's the story behind the Lamborghini symbol and it's true. Ferruccio's interest in Spanish fighting bulls goes back to his early age and it was so massive that not only he implemented a bull as his logo, but he named his cars after famous fighting bulls. Gallardo, Miura, Diablo and Murcielago are some of the brand's most popular models.

However, it is not the only reason why he used a raging bull for his logo. The founder's zodiac sign was a taurus. The taurus has always symbolized power and on the Lamborghini logo, it does stand for power as well, since it represents some of the fastest cars in the world. The current Lamborghini symbol uses a black shield, outlined with a gold color. The golden bull is well positioned in the center, with the golden letters “Lamborghini” on top. Power, elegance, prestige and luxury, the Lamborghini logo is definitely among the best car logos of all time.
